Within the frame and structure of studies at the TUM School of Social Sciences and Technology, technical education is understood both as comprehensive specialized educational area for various technical vocational disciplines (reference point is scientific disciplines) and as special teaching methodology for vocational education (reference point is vocational education). 

In addition to this, it is a link between the disciplines of engineering, vocational education and university education and teaching methodology. Research and teaching are equally important and inseparable. Research and development projects are processed immediately during the courses; in reverse, students are directly involved in the projects as part of the lectures and theses.
