DiWiBe – Understanding and communicating the digitalization of economic-commercial professional fields

The BMBF-funded project aims to develop digital resources and training for business teachers to help them teach digital transformation in business in a more targeted way. The project builds on the Teach@TUM4.0 project, its results and the professional scenarios created within the DigiLLab. The goal is to develop further the infrastructure of the TUM DigiLLab and the teaching-learning resources on the topics of digitization of work and Industry 4.0 that are based on it and already exist in order to make them usable within the domain of economic education regardless of location. In the DiWiBe project, the Technical University of Munich (Prof. Dr. Manuel Förster) and the University of Kassel (Prof. Dr. Michael Goller) work closely together and design two strongly interlinked teaching-learning modules. Module 1 deals with the changes in job-specific requirements brought about by digital transformation, and Module 2 focuses on the media-didactic needs for teachers arising from Module 1. Both courses will be available on-site at DigiLLab and as web-based courses. Following the iterative development, relevant competencies among the (prospective) teachers will be evaluated, and recommendations for the broad transfer of the DigiLLab will be derived.

The DiWiBe project is part of the WÖRLD project network. In the WÖRLD project network, 14 participating university locations are working on questions regarding the design and effects of digitization-related teacher training and continuing education in business education and economic education, addressing the competencies to be acquired by (prospective) teachers for planning and implementing digital and hybrid instruction. The project´s central goal is the evidence-based transfer of digital and hybrid teaching and learning offers, which are developed and evaluated in 14 subprojects of the WÖRLD network and focus on the competence development of (prospective) teachers´ economics. In this context, digitization-related teaching and competence development is achieved across all three phases of teacher training. The subject-specific and digitization-related expertise of the participating network and cooperation partners will be bundled in the WÖRLD House (in the sense of a transfer house). Thus, a strategically acting teacher education network is established to disseminate research and practice results and balance digitization-related teacher education in economics.

Project duration: Jun 01, 2023 - Dec 31, 2025
