Current research projects
The Chemistry Education Department was established at the Technical University of Munich in August 2018.
The department's research focuses on teaching and learning chemistry in both schools and universities. Three key areas are particularly important:
- The diagnosis, development, and promotion of scientific problem-solving processes in both pupils and students.
- The development and evaluation of innovative teaching/learning materials and the investigation of their effectiveness.
- The development, analysis, and promotion of professional knowledge in teacher training and continuing education.
The focus is on the empirical investigation of these areas. The results are and should be highly compatible with other scientific work in chemistry education and of direct relevance to chemistry education practice in various fields. To achieve this, we work with practical partners and in an interdisciplinary manner across faculties.
