Dissertation Project
Education for Sustainable Development: Specific Professional Knowledge in Chemistry Teacher Training
The topic of sustainability is becoming increasingly significant in social and educational contexts. Many political resolutions specifically call for Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) to be integrated into the curricula of schools and universities to improve the quality of education. It is particularly important to promote teacher training in this regard, to embed the ESD concept in the school context. Furthermore, chemistry plays a particularly important role in the context of sustainability, as it can contribute significantly to its implementation through new chemical technologies and processes.
The aim of this doctoral project is therefore to investigate the ESD-specific professional knowledge that prospective chemistry teachers require in order to design sustainable chemistry lessons. This knowledge will be developed and assessed through a review and Delphi study.
