Social connections in learning settings, at university and at workplace, play a crucial role in various aspects of their lives. These connections contribute to retention and cognitive outcomes, enhance self-esteem and life satisfaction, and build resistance to depression. Additionally, they improve employability by expanding personal networks beyond family ties. Our research on social connections focuses on designing and supporting social processes between learners in digitally mediated learning environments. We create indicators and interventions to help learners feel connected to others during educational activities mediated by technology.
