Research Projects

With the LEAPS research group (LEarning Analytics and Practices in Systems), we aim to create impactful technology-based interventions using learning analytics that support agency and connectedness in higher education and workplace training. To advance this goal, we combine participatory design with qualitative data analysis, computational modelling, and experiments. Some aspects of our research are applied, such as identifying signals in data (indicators) and understanding stakeholder perceptions of data (analytics). Other aspects are theoretical, such as conceptualising and modelling sensemaking of the human-data/human-AI interactions. In the group, we view learner-to-technology interactions through the prism of complex dynamical systems, which is reflected in our modelling approaches. Three areas of research streamline our current research

1) Learning Analytics and Generative AI

2) Connectedness and Social Network in Digital Environments

3) Participatory Consent Practices in Learning Analytics
