Werdegang

I am a Ph.D. candidate at the Hector Institute for Education Research and Psychology at the University of Tübingen. My dissertation revolves around multi-modal assessment of attention-related processes during learning. In March 2023, I spent a research visit in the lab of Sidney D'Mello at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where I investigated the generalizability of video-based detection of mind wandering during learning.

I completed my Master's in Data Science, focusing on Machine Learning at the University of Mannheim in 2020. Prior to that, I received my Bachelor's in Sociology, with a focus on empirical social research, at the University of Mannheim in 2016. During my studies, I worked as a research assistant at the Mannheim Center for European Social Research (MZES), the Chair of Macrosociology, and the GESIS - Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences.

Forschungsschwerpunkte

My research is centered on utilizing machine learning to comprehensively assess learning-related processes through multi-modal data analysis. This involves integrating diverse data streams, including Eye Tracking, physiological data, and Video, to gain insights into learning behaviors. Specifically, I focus on Aware and unaware mind wandering detection in remote learning settings and the assessment of classroom dynamics (i.e., hand-raising detection, teaching quality assessment)
