More success in academics as well as later on in their life – self-regulated learners benefit in the long term from being actively involved in their own learning process and from using effective learning strategies. Furthermore, a high level of self-efficacy and perseverance allows them to handle challenges in a better way and thus reach their goals effectively. With our research synthesis, we examine how teachers and schools can foster self-regulated learning as a basic skill in class. To do so, we examine which interventions are the most successful in training learning strategies in students and which characteristics of these interventions turn out to be the most effective.
