From November 11th to 13th, Janina Täschner attended the kick-off seminar of the TUM Graduate School, a mandatory programme for all doctoral students at the TU Munich during their doctoral studies. On the first morning, Axel Haug, the Center Manager of the Neuperlacher shopping centre PEP, gave the doctoral students an insight into the tasks of a Centre Manager before the TUM Graduate School gave an introduction into the topic "Good Scientific Practice". In the afternoon, each doctoral student introduced himself and his topic with a small poster and first interdisciplinary contacts were made. The first day ended with a Science Slam designed by the doctoral students. The second and third days were dedicated to "transferable skills courses". Janina Täschner selected the course "Efficient Reading Strategies" by Dr. Wilfried Mende and was able to take along some helpful tips for her everyday life as a knowledge worker. All in all a successful start to her exciting time as a TUM doctoral student!
