Career Development
I am a postdoctoral researcher at the Chair of Human-Centered Technologies for Learning at the Technical University of Munich. I hold a Dr. rer. nat. in Media Informatics from LMU Munich, supervised by Prof. Dr. Andreas Butz and Prof. Dr. Heinrich Hußmann. I completed my doctoral degree while working as researcher in the Human-Centered Engineering team at fortiss GmbH. My dissertation was at the intersection of HCI and AI, investigating how AI—despite its imperfection—can be used to support human decision-making in high-stakes domains like aviation.
I hold both a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from RWTH Aachen University. In between, I studied for one year as an exchange student at the Department of Computer Science and Technology at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China.
Research Interests
My research interests are broadly around how AI can be used to augment rather than undermine human cognition (e.g., learning or decision-making), using methods from both HCI and machine learning. I am particularly interested in novel human-AI interaction designs that go beyond common forms like chatbots or recommenders.
I publish in leading HCI venues like CHI, IUI, or CSCW. For more information, please refer to Google Scholar for current publications. You can also find me on Linkedin.
