Empowering socially disadvantaged children with AI
Collaboration with the Roland Berger Foundation (RBS)

Description
The Chair of Human-Centered Technologies is collaborating with the Roland Berger Foundation on a three-year research project aimed at empowering socially disadvantaged children and young people with essential skills in the responsible and reflective use of artificial intelligence. The goal of this initiative is to develop innovative approaches that strengthen individual learning opportunities and promote equitable access to key technologies of the future.
At the heart of the project is the development of AI literacy, helping children understand and critically engage with artificial intelligence. In addition, we are creating AI-powered tools to support writing and language development. One of these tools, PEER (Paper Evaluation and Empowerment Resource), provides automated, personalized feedback to support both students and teachers in language education.
This project bridges research and practice: new educational technologies are designed, tested, and refined in close collaboration with teachers at partner schools across Germany. In doing so, we aim to make a lasting contribution to equipping young people from all backgrounds with the skills they need to actively shape a digital future.
Further details about the initiative can be found in the official press release.
