Paper or screen? Reading with digital media such as tablets or e-book readers has become essential in both school and university contexts. Numerous research syntheses have already investigated how the medium influences reading outcomes such as reading motivation or reading comprehension, and have come to different conclusions. But one way or another, digital reading will continue to gain importance in all areas of society in the future.
Therefore, our research synthesis aims to explore ways to promote digital reading. To this end, we look at the different aspects of reading strategies in digital reading environments and examine to what extent they affect reading comprehension and reading motivation.
